Module 4. Co-deciding and sharing responsibility

“We want to foster civic attitudes among children.” This phrase can probably be found in most school statutes. But have you ever wondered what it means?

Read an inspiring story THE VILLAGE OF YOUR DREAMS: CHILDREN CHANGE THEIR COMMUNE about the way in which students can take some part of the responsibility for what happens in their municipality.

Schools are not only about buildings. They are about people who spend their time together, either working or learning. Schools are also meeting points that should provide the opportunity to talk about problems and changes to be introduced. An open school is a community created jointly by the teachers, the management and the parents, but most importantly by students. How to achieve it? By sharing power with the student board.
